What do you think about a Sonata Wagon?

There are a lot of people in and around the Cincinnati area that have fallen in love with the brand new Sonata. There has even been buzz about the Sonata Wagon. Unfortunately it is not available in the United States… yet. If Hyundai were to give us a Sonata wagon would you drive it? Would you want one? What do you think?

Here’s the story from AutoBlog:

While Hyundai has yet to unveil a wagon derivative of its Sonata/i40 family sedan, copious spy shots have been captured while the car has been undergoing testing around the globe. The load-lugging Korean is a lock for Europe and will doubtlessly surface in other markets, but to date, there has been no word as to whether the wagon will haul itself into U.S. showrooms.

While there’s still no official word from Hyundai, Autoblog has learned that American executives definitely want the car and are working to build a business case for it. Further, according to our source:

“We can’t comment on future product plans. But we certainly are aware of the upsurge in popularity of well-executed wagons, especially in markets like Europe where consumers demand the high degrees of versatility and fuel economy that wagons deliver. The Elantra Touring has been a terrific addition to our lineup and is a huge hit with its customers. A great wagon can bring in incremental customers who otherwise might not consider a given brand’s sedan.”

With the popularity of Hyundai and the Sonata growing everyday I think it is just a matter of time before we get to see the Sonata Wagon here in the states.

Hyundai Introduces The Concept RB. Is It A Bang? Or A Bust? You Tell Me!

Hyundai Concept RB Introduced at the 2010 Moscow International Motor Show

Hyundai has no shortages of amazing concepts over the past 10 years. We have also been very lucky in seeing some of these concepts come to life. When I saw the footage from this latest concept I knew you would want to see it. Why? Because I feel like you will be just as stunned as I was. This thing looks good! It looks sleek, roomy, fun and most importantly sporty! Now we all know that just because Hyundai comes out with a new concept and they do decide to produce it, it doesn’t mean we will see it here in the United States. I will tell you one thing….. I want this one. Check out the video below of the Concept RB courtesy of Hyundai and let me know what you think. Is it a bang? Or is it a bust?

Hyundai Motor Company introduced a new sub-compact family sedan concept RB at the 2010 Moscow International Motor Show (MIMS). The RB projects a coupe-like dynamic styling that is sculpted, stately and performance-oriented. -- Hyundai

Never Open Your Door In An Automated Car Wash. Period!

This had me rolling out of my office chair in hysterics. People thought I was crying cause I was upset. Really though I was crying because I was laughing so hard.

Come on people…. Getting your car washed is not Quantum Physics. You pull into the bay, turn your car off, let the cycle begin and for goodness sake you ignore that stupid harmless flyer that was left on your windshield. You could seriously hurt yourself or worse!!! You could hurt your car!!

Enjoy!

What is that you say? The New Hyundai Equus Comes Equipped with an iPad? Awesome!

That’s right! The all new 2011 Hyundai Equus will come equipped with an Apple iPad. Who do we thank for this one? Steve Jobs or the President of Hyundai Motor America? Either way nerds world wide rejoice! I know I am excited! Check out this article from Motor Authority on the new Hyundai Equus.

We’ve driven the 2011 Hyundai Equus a few times, and have come away impressed with the Korean automaker’s first take on traditional, full-size luxury.

Since we’re poverty-stricken Apple fanboys, too, we geeked out over the announcement earlier this year that the Equus would come standard with a 16GB, WiFi-enabled Apple iPad, which houses the Equus’ owners’ manual and connects owners to schedule service appointments via the Web.

A few mixed messages later, we’re bringing you the first photos of the iPad at work in the Equus, courtesy Hyundai CEO John Krafcik. Krafcik saw our (now updated) Equus Third Drive story, where we’d reported the iPad would not fit in the glovebox or in some secret area inside the Equus’ cubby-filled cabin. Here’s Krafcik’s proof that it does, even when tucked inside a nifty iPad case. (Etsy? Coach? I need this.)

The iPad also fits in the Equus’ seatback pockets, which means it doubles as an entertainment device for backseat passengers not wowed by the sedan’s eight-inch flip-up LCD entertainment system. And it slides into the side bins in the front doors, though it’ll be plainly visible there.

There’s still the question of how the iPad will stay charged, if it’s sitting unused for weeks on end in the car, and how that will affect owners who need the manual sporadically. And will owners be able to swap the WiFi model out for a 3G version, to stay connected in the nearly-ubiquitous cellphone data band?

Last question: does Steve Jobs get a free Equus, since it is pretty much the nicest iPad case on the planet?

You know we have been waiting patiently for this Hyundai Equus to arrive ever since it spent a week at our lots last year. When this new Equus finally arrives at your local Cincinnati Hyundai dealership you better know you will be the first ones we tell!

Automakers and working harder and harder every year on keeping you and your family safe while you are driving. Check out this article from them and watch the video. I think you’ll find it just as interesting as I did!

27 winners of 2010 TOP SAFETY PICK award; new requirement to win is good rating for protection in rollovers

ARLINGTON, VA — Nineteen cars and 8 SUVs earn the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s TOP SAFETY PICK award for 2010. For the first time, good performance in a roof strength test to measure protection in a rollover is required to win. TOP SAFETY PICK recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting people in front, side, rear, and now rollover crashes based on good ratings in Institute tests. Winners also must have electronic stability control, which research shows significantly reduces crash risk. This is the second time the Institute has tightened criteria since announcing the first recipients in 2005.
